On the Beach at Grace Bay Club
Sarah Myers is from El Dorado Hills, California. She is a Medical student at University of California San Diego. Interests include traveling, cooking, ballet, friends and beautiful sunsets with Magnus. Magnus Lindback is from Karlskoga, Sweden. He is a graduate student at Uppsala University, Sweden. His interests include traveling, cooking, surfing, kayaking, rock climbing, friends and beautiful sunsets with Sarah.
Sarah and Magnus met in 2000 during her senior year of high school where Magnus was on a student exchange program. The two have alternated years between the States and Sweden managing to complete their college degrees with clever planning, study abroad programs and a commitment to not let the Atlantic Ocean come between the relationship. They choose the Turks & Caicos for their wedding and honeymoon because it was the most beautiful beach they could find half way between Sweden and California.
The wedding took place on the beach at the Grace Bay Club with a reception following at Magnolia Restaurant. They danced till well after mid-night to the sounds of Correy Forbes and the Island Boys. Friends flew in from California, New York, Washington DC, Portland Oregon, Chicago, New Mexico, Texas, Sweden and Germany. They stayed at The Sands - and "the hotel and staff were absolutely fantastic."
After the wedding Sarah is taking a year off from medical school and will complete a one year Masters of Public Health program in Stockholm while Magnus completes his graduate studies in engineering and economics. They will return to San Diego next year where Sarah will resume her medical school curriculum and Magnus will hopefully find a job.
More than a year ago, they introduced the idea to family and friends of getting married in Turks and Caicos. "We think most of them expected a combination of ceremonies and celebrations in California and Sweden and expressed real surprise at our location decision. While we know it presented lots of difficulties for both ourselves and our guests, it turned out to be the best thing we could have done. Absolutely everyone had a wonderful time. They all fell in love with Grace Bay, the wedding activities were beautiful and we had a whole week for two extended families from the US and Sweden to get to know each other. It was an unforgettable time for all."
"Everyone was fantastic. I think we picked the best of all options including: The Sands - home base for the week for all our 52 guests. Bay Bistro - Tim and Joan put together a marvelous rehearsal dinner buffet for all of us. The Magnolia - Tracey and Gianni were over the top in making sure the restaurant was prepared with all the details we requested - it was a fairy tale evening. Tropical Imaging far exceeded our expectations - it was obvious that Ileana and Chris are exceptional professionals and captured everything about our special day with absolutely stunning photos. And, not the least of all was the more than one year of planning assistance we received from Nila Destinations - Rosalind Wallace and Elizabeth Lightbourne are marvelous and were incredibly patient in attending to every detail. Not one of our guests will ever forget our wedding or the week they spent in Providenciales. It was perfect."

Our memories will live forever in the beautiful photos they took. The Seaside Café - the food was outstanding. The service was great. The pina coladas were awesome. And what made our Wedding so special: . Each and everyday we enjoyed living by island time (so much we're still on it back home). . The beautiful sunset along with my beautiful wife provided the world's best backdrop for the wedding. . The ultimate wedding day - from fishing with a few of the groomsmen on "Catch the Wave", catching a shark, watching the best man pay the price on the open sea from partying too hard Saturday night, meeting Shaquille O'Neal, marrying the greatest girl on earth . what more could a guy ask for on his wedding day? . The best man toast. . Sharing our own written vows at our wedding. . John sharing his aquaman-like skills with Jo-Jo the dolphin . . Diving for Conch. . Eating way too much Conch. .
